maxcrafts hilltown fun dayMAXcrafts is a developing social enterprise within The MAXwell Centre. Social enterprises are businesses that trade for a particular social and/or environmental purpose.

The aim of MAXcrafts is to benefit the local community and support the continued running of the MAXwell Centre through the production and sale of craft items. These items will be made by volunteers and craft group participants at the centre from materials that will be largely donated or come from the centre’s garden. Groups that currently use the centre will also be donating craft items.

The kind of items we will be making are:

  • handmade jewellery
  • homeware itemsmaxcrafts rings etc
  • decorative items and ornaments
  • papercraft items
  • knitting/crochet
  • flower pressing
  • jams and chutneys
  • soaps and bath bombs

We hope to establish a group of volunteers who are keen to get involved in an arts and crafts group and will help to make items for us to sell. This group will be beneficial for all, as participants can learn new skills, make new friends, increase their confidence and self-esteem, as well as be contributing to the local community.

IMG_1101We are looking for people who would like to participate in the craft groups:

  • We aim to run monthly workshops where people can learn new skills on the last Thursday of the month.
  • There will also be a regular MAXcrafts group, Monday or Friday afternoon, where we will produce items to sell in our centre.

MAXcrafts are also looking to recruit a number of volunteers who can support the running and administration of the enterprise. We will be looking for people who can help out with: business, finance, marketing, and co-ordinating the groups.

If interested please contact the centre on 01382 802628 or email
